transferred to 1st Lehrtrupp of Kraftfahr-Lehr-Kommando II Ohrdruf on 01.06.1934,
promoted to Feldwebel on 01.12.1934,
transferred along with his Lehrtrupp to Panzerregiment 1 in October 1935, forming its 2nd Company,
transferred along with parts of his company in Autumn of 1936 to the newly formed 1st Company of Panzerregiment 7,
transffered along with his company in Autumn of 1937 to newly formed Panzerabteilung 65, forming its 1st Company,
transferred in November 1938 to the 3rd Company of Panzerabteilung 66,
became Hauptfeldwebel of 3rd Company of Panzerabteilung 66 in 1939,
changed to an officer's career, promoted to Leutnant on 01.06.1940,
served as a company commander with Panzerabteilung 127 in 1942/43,
transferred to Panzerabteilung 129 in September1943, serving as commander of the Staff company,
In September 1944, the Abteilung requested that Oberleutnant Maier be transferred, as he had repeatedly proved unable to cope with the demands of a company commander.
