Died: 03.04.2001 in Mühlberg

 
  • Elvir Schröter joined Panzerregiment 1 in November 1938,

  • served during the Polish and French Campaigns as a crew member of a Panzerkampfwagen III with the 2nd Company,

  • transferred in August 1940 to the 1st Company of Panzerabteilung A and shortly thereafter, to the 1st Company of Panzerregiment 18,

  • transferred in 1942 to the newly formed Panzerabteilung 160,

  • experienced the battle of Stalingrad and was flown out by plane,

  • after his recovery he served as driving instructor at Ohrdruf,

  • he survived the war and settled after 1945 in his home town in East Germany,
