Born: 07.05.1917 in Eisenach

Died: 26.07.2004 in Erfurt

  • Werner Hill joined Panzerregiment 1 in November 1938,

  • served as Panzerschütze with the 8th Company during the Polish Campaign,

  • was admitted to the Erfurt military hospital in November 1939 and subsequently transferred to Panzerersatzabteilung 1,

  • transferred to the 1st Company of the newly formed Panzerabteilung 101 in 1940,

  • transferred to Brücken-Bau-Bataillon 683 in 1941,

  • transfeered to Pionierbataillon 204 in 1942,

  • severely wounded (artillery shell) on 26.08.1942, transferred to hospital and subsequently to Bau-Ersatz-Bataillon 9 in 1943,

  • is listed in Pionier-Ersatz- und Ausbildungs-Bataillon 35 in 1944,

  • Werner Hill survived WWII, settled after 1945 in his hometown in East Germany and became an architect.
