Personnel Panzerregiment 1

While working on the book, we reviewed hundreds of military and civilian biographies. We encountered many names and faces in photos, albums or in personal accounts. There wasn't room to include everyone in the book. Therefore, we will introduce people to you, who are not mentioned in the book, in greater detail on this page.

Dittmar, Karl

Born: 08.06.1916 in Erfurt Died: 01.05.2012 joined Panzerregiment 1 in November1938, transferred to the regimental staff, served with the regimental staff until he was wounded in September 1941, returned to Panzerregiment 1 and served with the 6th Company, changed to an officer career, served with Führer-Panzerregiment 1 at the end of WWII, last rank: Oberfähnrich, became a US-POW in May 1945, returned to his hometown and organized (illegal) meetings of former Panzerregiment

Kronfeld, Walter

Born: 27.07.1916 in Wandersleben Died: 1977 joined the 3th Company of Panzerregiment 1 as a conscript in October 1936, transferred along with his company to the newly formed Panzerregiment 11 (1st Company) one year later, left active service as Unteroffizier der Reserve in October 1938, was reactivated in the course of mobilization and participated in the Western Campaign, transferred to the newly formed 6th Company of Panzerregiment 1 in October 1940, served as Unteroffizier

Kitz, Heinrich

Born: 10.05.1914 in Halgehausen Died: 26.01.1994 in Halgehausen nothing is known about his pre-war service, he most likely served as a conscript for two years with Panzerregiment 1, was reactivated in Panzerersatzabteilung 1 after mobilization in 1939, transferred as an Obergefreiter in mid 1940 to the newly formed 6th Company of Panzerregiment 1, transferred to the 8th Company on 08.03.1942, served with s.Pz.Abt.504 (Tiger) in 1943.
