  • Werner Puffe joined the 8th Lehrtrupp of Kraftfahrlehrkommando II Ohrdruf in November1934,

  • transferred in October 1935 to the 8th Company of Panzerregiment 1 and pursued the career of an Unteroffizier,

  • transferred to Panzerabteilung Thoma / Imker Drohne on 26.07.1938 (Spanis Civil War),

  • served during the Polish and French Campaigns as Feldwebel and commander of a Panzerkampfwagen IV with the 8th Company,

  • transferred in August 1940 to the 3rd Company of Panzerabteilung A and shortly thereafter, to the 3rd Company of Panzerregiment 18,

  • transferred in 1942 to the newly formed Panzerabteilung 160,

  • was wounded during the battle of Stalingrad and was flown out by plane,

  • after his recovery he served as instructor at the NCO school at Brno,

  • he survived the war and settled after 1945 in West Germany
