Raband, Gerhard



Born: 28.06.1916 in Frankfurt (Oder)

 
  • joined 3rd Company of SS-Totenkopfstandarte "Thüringen" in February1935,

  • pursued the career of an Unteroffizier (Unterscharführer),

  • joined the 7th Company of Panzerregiment 1 in November 1938,

  • served during the Polish and French Campaigns with the regimental staff of Panzerregiment 1,

  • transferred in July 1941 as Unterscharführer to the Sturmgeschützbatterie SS Division "Totenkopf",

  • served in this unit as Sturmgeschütz commander and platoon leader,

  • severely wounded in April 1942, unfit for further front line service,

  • served from October 1942 in the SS Haupt- Führsorge und Versorgungsamt,

  • changed into an officer career, promoted to Untersturmführer on 30.01.1944, to Obersturmführer on 09.11.1944

EKI, EKII (1940), War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords (1944), Black Wound Badge, Panzer Assault Badge in Silver (1940), General Assault Badge (1944), Eastern Front Medal (1942)
