Born: 13.07.1915 in Bernburg

 

  • joined 2nd Company of 4. Kraftfahr-Abteilung in April 1934,

  • transferred along with his company to Kraftfahrlehrkommando II Ohrdruf in August 1934, serving with 5th Lehrtrupp,

  • trasferred to the regimental staff of Kraftfahrlehrkommando II Ohrdruf in June 1935,

  • transferred to regimental staff of Panzerregiment 1 in October 1935,

  • pursued the career of an Unteroffizier,

  • transferred to the staff of I. Abteilung Panzerregiment 11 in October 1937 and to the staff of II. Abteilung of Panzerregiment 36 one year later,

  • transferred as a Feldwebel to the staff of 5. Panzerbrigade in April 1940,

  • transferred to the newly formed Panzerregiment 21 in October 1940, experienced the Russian Campaign,

  • switched to an officer career, promoted to Leutnant on 01.04.1943,

  • transferred to Panzerregiment 25 in October 1943, serving as platoon leader,

  • severly wounded in September 1944, transferred to hospital,

  • Rudolf Barkow survived WWII and settled after 1945 in Mannheim.
