Funke, Heinrich



Born: 07.12.1911 in Gera

Died: 19.02.1995 in Leuven (Belgium)

 
  • Heinrich Funke served at least from 1937 as an Unteroffizier with the 5th Company of Panzerregiment 1,

  • served as a Feldwebel and deputy platoon leader with the 5th Company in the Polish and French Campaigns,

  • transferred in August 1940 to the 3rd Company of Panzerabteilung A and shortly thereafter, to the 3rd Company of Panzerregiment 18,

  • transferred in January 1941 to the regimental staff of Panzerregiment 18,

  • served in 1942/1943 as a Kompaniefeldwebel (Spieß),

  • is listed as Oberfeldwebel in the ranks of I. Abteilung of Panzerregiment 26 in 1944,

  • Heinrich Funke survived WWII and settled after several years of Soviet captivity in Erfurt (East Germany)
