Born: 28.11.1912 in Dippelsdorf

  • joined 3rd Lehrtrupp of Kraftfahrlehrabteilung II Ohrdruf in November 1934,

  • pursued the career of an Unteroffizier,

  • transferred to the staff of I. Abteilung of Panzerregiment 1 in October1935,

  • served as Unteroffizier with the signals platoon of I. Abteilung during the Polish Campaign,

  • transferred to Heeres-Feuerwerker-Schule in February 1940 and started training as an ordnance officer,

  • promoted to Leutnant (W) on 01.06.1942,

  • transferred to H.M.A. Sonneburg on 01.06.1942 and to Dinafü 200 Panzerarmee Afrika on 28.08.1942,

  • treatment in military hospital from October 1942 to December 1942,

  • transferred to the staff of 373. Infanteriedivision (Kroatisch) on 21.01.1943,

  • tranferred to supply company of II. Abteilung of Panzerregiment 16 on 23.05.1944,

  • Herbert Nitzsche survived WWII.
