Born: 23.09.1914 in Erfurt

  • joined Panzerregiment 1 in October 1936,

  • pursued an NCO career,

  • served as Unteroffizier with the 2nd Company of Panzerregiment 1 during the Polish and French Campaigns,

  • was one of the very few man who continued to serve with the 2nd Company after 1940,

  • is listed as Funkmeister in the commander´s vehicle of the 2nd Company at the beginning of the Russian Campaign,

  • transferred to Panzerersatzabteilung 1 on 01.05.1942,

  • Wilhelm Gronau survived WWII.

Black Wound Badge (1939), EKII ( 1941), Panzer Assault Badge in Silver
