  • joined the 5th Company of Panzerregiment 1 in November 1937,

  • transferred in September 1938 to the 2nd Company of Panzerregiment 1 and returned to the 5th Company one month later,

  • transferred to Panzerlehrabteilung "Wünsdorf" in April 1939,

  • served during the Polish Campaign as Obergefreiter and panzer crew member with Panzerlehrabteilung "Wünsdorf" (III. Abteilung/Panzerregiment 5),

  • transferred along with his Abteilung to Panzerregiment 33 in Spring of 1940,

  • served from August 1940 as Unteroffizier with the workshop company,

  • is listed as Oberfeldwebel and Hauptfeldwebel of the workshop company of Panzerregiment 33 in August 1943,

  • Mathias Lattig most likely survived WWII

EKII (1942), War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords, War Merit Cross 1st Class with Swords (1944), Panzer Assault Badge Grade II for 25 Engagements (1945), Eastern Front Medal (1942), Motor Vehicle Driver’s Proficiency Badge in Gold (1943)
