• joined Panzerregiment 1 in 1938 as an officer candidate,

• served with the 5th Company during the Polish and French Campaigns,

• transferred to the 3rd Company Panzerabteilung A on 25.06.1940, which became the 3rd Company of the newly formed Panzerregiment 18 shortly thereafter,

• promoted to Leutnant,

• severely wounded on 03.09.1941 (artillery shell, lost his right leg), died two days later at the hospital.
